Lanzado el 30 de junio, The Game fue el primer álbum de Queen que alcanzó la primera posición, tanto en el ranking de los Estados Unidos, como en el del Reino Unido. Si bien el álbum tuvo arreglos más simples que otros trabajos de Queen, The Game fue lanzado con los más grandes elogios. Entre las notables canciones del álbum se incluyen "Another one bites the dust", y "Crazy little thing called love"; ambas ascendieron al puesto número uno en los Estados Unidos. The Game fue el primer álbum de Queen en el que se utilizó sintetizadores.
